Damien Senyuy
I am a passionate surreal, abstract painter, sculptor and musician from Cameroon (Central Africa), always looking for new challenges.
As a child, I used to spend my time in the forest, making toy cars, wooden bicycles, traditional masks and reproducing musical instruments I had seen at cultural festivals. My first experiences with colors were made with natural materials, such as soil, wood ash, cola nut juice, avocado seeds and charcoal. At school, my artistic skills were developed through technical drawing and mechanical practices, alongside mentorships from Cameroonian painter Angu Walter and sculptor Steve Venain (who is of blessed memory).
My themes are depic tradition, cultural awareness, pop culture, environmental concerns and unity with whimsical figures as focal point. You can also find palm trees sweeping through my work as a sign of peace, romance, and eternal life. I enjoy using blue, red, yellow, black, gold, and white to express simplicity.
